3D Octahedron from Fabric

Objective

• Today you will learn how to use the embroidery machine by embroidering your initials on a piece of fabric and then learn how to use the software by beginning to set up your own octahedron file for embroidering
• This course is intended to give you a basic understanding on how to use the embroidery machine so you can begin visualizing what you may use this for in your projects, so it’s ok if you don't remember every single detail contained here.

Machine Introduction:

Our embroidery machine, which we call “Swiss Chard” (Bernina is a Swiss company) is a B700 model

Attaching the arm to the machine

●Ensure machine is off if attaching/detaching arm or the machine will be confused

●The arm has three tabs sticking out from one end, two plastic and one with metal. Be careful to not bang around the one with metal as this is what connects to the computer of the machine.

● The machine has 3 corresponding notches where the arm tabs will be inserted

● Lift the arm from the base to about a 45 degree angle

● Slide the arm into the notches of the machine and then set the arm down

Machine Maintenance

Oiling the Machine

● At the start of every project, you will need to oil the bobbin compartment of the machine

● Open the bobbin door

● There will be a yellow bobbin. Push on the metal center of the bobbin and it will pop out

● Next you need to click on the metal tab to the left. Push on it with leftward pressure until it opens
